Paragliding courses in Cape Town
The minimum age requirement to start a paragliding training course with us is 16 but you can only get your license when you are 17 years old. You will be taught in a safe environment under the supervision of expert instructors who will be in constant radio contact with you via a two-way radio. You will attend in depth theory classes teaching you everything you need to know to become a safe paragliding pilot. Our training courses are structured around the learning capabilities of each individual student. The courses can be done in consecutive days or stretched over a period of a few months.






Two days introductory course
Paragliding is one of the coolest sport you can imagine. This two days course will give you an understanding of what paragliding is and what it feels like to fly on your own.

Learning paragliding equipment.
Getting familiarized with the equipment and learning how to use them.

Basic weather conditions
Wind conditions for take off and landing. What is safety margins.

Groung handling and first flight.
Learning how to connect and control the glider on the ground.
Course plan and outcome!!
First day of the course you will be learning the equipment, how to connect the glider and safety measures. After that you will start on ground handling which you will learn how to inflate the glider and control with break lines.
Second day more ground handling if necessary and start running with the glider. Whenever you comfortable with inflating, controlling and running with the glider, you ready for your first flight.
This course will give you an idea how it feels like to fly with an paraglider and be in the air controlling an aircraft. At the end of the course you will be able to say “I want to finish my course” or “This is not for me”

Full paragliding license course
The Basic Paragliding Course consists of 12 – 14 days of paragliding training. To complete your basic paragliding license you will need to do a minimum of 35 Flights and a minimum of 4 hours airtime and pass the basic paragliding theoretical exam.
During this course you will learn the safety of paragliding, Glider control aswell as forward and reverse launches, learning how to safely control a paraglider, Understanding weather and site assesments and all rules and regulations of paragliding in South Africa.
After completing the Basic Paragliding Course you are allowed to fly anywhere on your own with no instruction needed.

Learning paragliding equipment.
Weight limitation, different designs and classes on gliders, how to use your reserve chute and how to communicate through 2 way radio etc…

Detailed weather and micrometeorology
Types of clouds and their effects in the air. Wind conditions and gust factor. Pressure effects, effects of the sun, thermals and how can we use them etc…

Ground handling to perfection and 35+ flights.
More ground handling to eliminate any errors on take off. Take off technics and best way to approach landing.
